Morris County Central
Back in 1978 the Morris County Central was a tourist railroad operating out of Newfoundland, NJ over a scenic portion of the former New York, Susquehanna and Western Railroad. It had moved to this line from its original home in Whippany, NJ in 1973. The railroad folded two years after this photo was taken and the equipment, including trim ex-Southern, ex-Virginia Blue Ridge 2-8-0 #385, was returned to Whippany where it resides today at the Whippany Railway Museum.
What could not be imagined at the time was the eventual resurrection of this line as a through freight route in the 1980's, a situation that continues today.
