Back in the day Washington Union Station was always a busy place. This view was taken as I was fresh off the northbound Crescent from Atlanta and awaiting departure of the Broadway Limited for Chicago. The four Southern Railway E-Units that brought the Crescent to Washington (this being during the days prior to when the railroad joined Amtrak) have cut off and are heading north towards the Ivy City engine terminal. Meanwhile, one of the Washington Terminal RS-1 switchers lurks in the background, ready to pluck out the Crescent's New York cars and place them onto the next Northeast Corridor train for the Big Apple.
