Texas and Pacific
Certainly one of the largest locomotives to operate in the modern steam excursion era was big Texas and Pacific 2-10-4 #610. The "Texas Type" was restored to running condition to pull the bicentennial American Freedom Train in 1976. After that she found her way onto the Southern Railroad where she provided big power for their excursion trains.
Alas, her stay on the Southern was relatively brief as it turns out that mile after mile of high speed proved problematic for the brawny freight mauler. No sign of that here, however, as she stomps through Orange, VA with a train from Alexandria to Lynchburg.
