The eastbound VIA Rail Canadian is scheduled to pause for an hour in Hornepayne, Ontario for a crew change and servicing. The train left Vancouver on Friday night and has arrived in Hornepayne on Monday afternoon. It will finish its trek to Toronto the following morning.
There are rumors that the train will be rerouted in the future away from the northern Canadian National route through the Canadian shield to the more scenic Canadian Pacific route which hugs the shore of Lake Superior. In that case Hornpayne will lose the excitement of the periodic visits of the transcontinental train.
