For big GG-1 928, this 6-car "Clocker" train bound for Philadelphia is child's play. In this view from the northbound platform at Elizabeth, NJ we can see that the first two cars are actually Penn Central office cars. During the early years of Amtrak's existence, the fledgling passenger carrier insisted that all private cars, including those of the Class I railroads, be painted in the Amtrak scheme if they were to be hauled on Amtrak trains. Interestingly, in this train, the privates are the only cars painted in the Amtrak scheme, with the balance of the train consisting of a motley collection of inherited coaches in their heritage schemes.
