Gare du Palais
The Gare du Palais in Quebec City was built in 1916 in the style of the famous Chateau Frontenac hotel. Soon after this photo was taken in 1975, the rails fell silent as train service to Quebec was routed away from the stub-end Gare du Palais which was isolated by highway construction. But happily, service was resumed nine years later and today you can still catch a VIA Rail train from there to Montreal.
On this quiet afternoon, a Montreal-bound train idles at the platform behind a handsome Canadian National FPA/FPB Alco combo.
