This former Pennsylvania Railroad E-7 presents a sad sight on its final trip, traveling "dead-in-two" on a Penn Central way freight. The chalked instructions on the unit read:
"P.C. freight agent Oak Island NJ for Naparano Iron & Metal, Newark NJ, CNJ Delivery".
Naparano Iron was a scrap dealer where many locomotives met their final fate. Here the 4245 is rolling off the last few miles of its long and productive life.
